MACTARNAHANÕS CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY WITH ÒFLOATERÓ JUNE 14 AND 15

MacTarnahanÕs bash to kick off a full summer of 10th Anniversary festivities

PORTLAND, ORÑJune 3, 2002ÑOregonÕs number-one Amber Ale is turning 10 with Willamette Valley rockers ÒFloater,Ó June 14 at the Roseland Theater and June 15 at the Crystal Ballroom. The shows will celebrate the release of FloaterÕs new CD and the success of PortlandÕs landmark microbrew. TheyÕll also kick off a summer of MacTarnahanÕs 10th Anniversary fun (including the Highland Games and the release of a new longneck bottle), culminating with the breweryÕs 10th annual Oktoberfest Celebration.

ÒWeÕre stoked to be doing a show with MacTarnahanÕs,Ó says Floater bassist and lead vocalist Robert Wynia. ÒItÕs a happy coincidence. Floater started ten years ago and so did MacTarnahanÕsÑand weÕre big fans of Portland Brewing.Ó The Portland-based trio of underground art rockers has just finished its seventh CD, Alter, which is being released to Floater diehards at the June 14 and 15 shows.

MacTarnahanÕs Amber Ale debuted in 1992 at the Flanders Street Brewpub. Since then the MacTarnahanÕs name has grown into a nationally recognized brand of distinctive craft beers, including Highlander Pale Ale and Black Watch Cream Porter.

ÒMacTarnahanÕs is an Oregon success story,Ó says Brewery Patriarch Mac MacTarnahan. ÒItÕs is a River City original thatÕs attracted a national following. I canÕt predict where the next ten years will take us, but one thingÕs for sureÑthe great flavor will remain the same.Ó

After winning a Gold Medal at the Great American Beer Festival its debut year, MacTarnahanÕs met with swift public approval, helping establish the Amber Ale category nationwide. In 2000, MacTarnahanÕs set two more precedents in the craft brewing industry, importing a top-tier single malt ScotchÑThe MacTarnahanÑand putting its Amber Ale in a can. 2001 was another boom year with the introduction of two new members of the MacTarnahanÕs family, Highlander Pale Ale and Black Watch Cream Porter, the later of which won a Gold Medal for Porters at the Great American Beer Festival.

MacTarnahanÕs 10th Anniversary Bash will dazzle guests 21 and over with games, free birthday cake, commemorative picture taking and The Black Watch Challenge.
